Blackthorn Cottage lies two miles from the village of Broughshane in County Antrim. The nearest big town is Ballymena, which is about five miles away. The cottage is near the beautiful Glens of Antrim, and within easy reach of the Giant’s Causeway and the North Antrim coast.
This area is a good place for walking and cycling. The mountain where St Patrick is said to have lived and tended his flock – Slemish – lies across the valley from here. It is relatively easy to climb and, on reaching the summit, you will have great views of the countryside of County Antrim and beyond.
The cottage is well situated as a base from which to explore Northern Ireland. The cultural centre of Belfast is less than an hour away, while Derry and Donegal can be reached within two hours.
